The All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE), sometimes called a tank by clone troopers, was an all terrain assault walker developed for the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) during the Clone Wars. The walker was used for numerous tasks including, but not limited to, transporting platoons of clone troopers on the battlefield and attacking enemy installations. The AT-TE's rear compartment contained computerhologram communication devices and space for troopers to stand during transportation. On the back end of the machine was a large door that allowed for quick deployment of troopers in a battle. Some versions of the walker were able to scale vertical cliffs, as evidenced in the Battle of Teth. The typical arsenal of an AT-TE included a top-mounted mass-driver cannon, along with six other laser cannons placed strategically around the outside of the vehicle.
AT-TEs were first used in action during the First Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Due to the vehicle's success in the battle, Rothana designed numerous other walkers for use by the GAR. The walker served in countless battles across the galaxy and eventually became part of the Imperial Army after the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire. The AT-TE was a precursor to the Empire's All Terrain Armored Transport.
Characteristics
The AT-TE was a multi-purpose assault vehicle capable of tasks ranging from the transportation of clone trooperplatoons around a battlefield to full-scale attacks upon enemy installations.[17] The vehicle performed most admirably in support roles that involved providing immediate cover fire for battalions of soldiers. AT-TEs were often deployed in large numbers to overwhelm the enemy through sheer volume of firepower.
The rear internal compartment was cramped and contained a number of computer consoles which included a holographic communication system allowing for representations of commanders to be projected inside the vehicle. On the standard model, troopers were located in the forward and rear compartments with large doors present in the back which opened, allowing soldiers to exit the vehicle. A top door allowed a soldier to observe the battlefield from the top of the walker.[18]
An AT-TE was impervious to ion damage due to built-in electromagnetic shielding. Its average speed was 60 kph (37.2 mph). This plodding pace allowed it to penetrate energy shields, a feat that was impossible for repulsorlift craft. Effective in numerous terrains and environments, some models of the walker were even capable of scaling vertical cliffs, similar to the later UT-AT transport.[19][20] During the Battle of Bothawui, it was demonstrated that the AT-TE was even useful in space combat, when a contingent of the walkers were deployed onto asteroids to ambush a Separatist fleet.[21] AT-TEs contained enough fuel to stride at full speed for over 500 kilometers and possessed enough scrubbed air and military rations to last its crew for three weeks out in the harsh conditions of the battlefield.
Seven specially-trained crew members were needed in order for the vehicle to function properly.[14] The pilot, who was normally the AT-TE commander, worked the six legs of the walker, while a spotter who sat above the pilot utilized several sensor stations to ascertain the locations of hostile units and primary objectives.[22] The spotter then had to relay this information to the four gunners nestled at gun stations within the heavily-armored hull of the walker. A final crew member had to sit behind the controls of the heavy cannon atop the AT-TE, partially exposed to enemy fire. Ten clone trooper passengers could be held in each section of the walker (20 total). In addition, an IM-6 battlefield medical droid was located in the back of the AT-TE for emergency medical treatment.[14]
The largest weapon was the enormous mass-driver cannon. This cannon could be loaded with an array of heavy energy weapons and solid shells, depending on the specifications of the mission. The payloads of the gun could range from burrowing bunker busters[6] to heat-seeking projectiles to sonic charges. Whilst its range was considerable,[14] it had a comparatively slow rate of fire and variable accuracy.
Six smaller laser cannons were strategically placed along the vehicle. Four were located in a square pattern around the cockpit, while two more were placed in the rear to cover the flanks and help secure drop off points for the platoons contained within the walker. These troopers were essential to the survival of the AT-TE when the walker came under fire from enemy infantry units that were too small to be accurately targeted by the main cannons.[6]
Regardless of its heavy armor, the AT-TE was not invulnerable. Due to weak points in the underbelly of the vehicle, a single direct hit by a rocket from a Hailfire droid was capable of disabling an AT-TE,[13] and they were also highly vulnerable to air attacks. Its high silhouette made it easier to target by enemies. One of the more obvious design flaws was that it was low to the ground, so the turret gunner's protection of the vulnerable underside was limited. The low ground clearance of this vehicle also made it susceptible to mines exploding beneath it. This flaw was eliminated in the later AT-AT walker.[14] AT-TEs could be constructed at mech factories.[23]
Special sockets for the AT-TE were created on-board Acclamator-class assault ships. While any Republic spacecraft could transport these walkers through space, a variant of the LAAT/igunship, the LAAT/c, had to be used to ferry these vehicles down to battlefields.[14]
Variant models
A variant model of AT-TE was modified to carry additional vehicles. The rear-ward section of the walker could house two AT-RT walkers in storage configuration, along with their riders. These were then lowered onto the battlefield via a lowering platform, their legs unfolding after the disembarking and the AT-RTs could be deployed into battle in seconds.[24][18]
Another AT-TE variant held facilities for a small mobile command center. This variant served a similar purpose to the later tracked PX-4 Mobile Command Base, commanding and coordinating the movements of columns of other AT-TEs.[24][18] Additional models were produced throughout the Clone Wars as Rothana continued modifying their design.[18] Stock AT-TEs were even capable of being upgraded to Heavy All Terrain Tactical Enforcers.[23]
During the time of the Galactic Empire, some AT-TEs had parts of their rear side-armor removed, enabling embarked troops to shoot at enemies on the sides. This added to the vehicle's lateral defenses, but also increased their vulnerability to grenades and other short-range weaponry.[15]Some Imperialized walkers had most of their top armor and offensive armament removed (such as the projectile cannon) so that they could be used to transport large amounts of cargo.[25]
HistoryRepublic useThe Clone Wars
The AT-TE design was inspired by the arctic horny whelmer of Rothana.[22] The AT-TE was first built as a patrol vehicle for mining companies operating on distant worlds who were in need of a vehicle that could help maintain order. When war loomed and Rothana Heavy Engineering gained military contracts, they revised the design and modified it for combat duty. The Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, when the design had been officially unveiled, admitted to the KDY executives that the walker's design invoked terror.[14]
In the years following the walker's success at the first Battle of Geonosis and other conflicts in the Clone Wars, Rothana created the AT-HE and AT-AT walkers to supplement the earlier design.[22] They also began tweaking the AT-TE design itself, replacing standard legs with longer ones on some of the walkers, presumably to increase their gunners' line-of-sight and to more easily avoid obstacles. Similar walker designs included the UT-AT and the AT-OT.
During the Clone Wars, the AT-TE was used heavily in many campaigns, especially in the Outer Rim Sieges. In some campaigns, they were used in conjunction with AT-OTs and AT-APs. Clone troopers and Jedi generals would often refer to the AT-TEs as 'tanks' when discussing deployment and strategic use.[26]
Street fighter 5 download pc. A division of AT-TEs were deployed in the Republics defense of Christophsis. After the traitorous Slick destroyed some of the walkers in the Republics staging area, the division was left 3 Walkers down for the Republic's first engagement against the Separatist forces. They managed to fight of the first wave, but many walkers were destroyed and only a couple remained for the second wave. The Republic forces eventually won the battle, and fresh AT-TEs were deployed to the planet to support the regiments protecting the planet from future assaults.
Many AT-TEs were deployed for the Liberation of Ryloth campaign. As General Windu attempted a push to the capital city of Lessu, the walkers came under fire from enemy AATs. 3 walkers were destroyed, but Windu managed to save one of the drivers. The AATs were destroyed by the newly deployed Lightning Squad. As the General pushed into the city, the walkers provided fire support from the nearby ridge over-looking the city. After the Liberation, the remaining walkers took part in a special victory parade.[24]
A number of Heavy All Terrain Tactical Enforcers unsuccessfully defended the energy refineries on Sarapin.[23]
Whilst attempting to rescue the Guardian of the Kyber Crystal, Bolla Ropal, from Cad Bane in the Saleucami system, Admiral Yularen informed General Skywalker they were not prepared for boarding another ship because they had no boarding craft. Skywalker soon came up with a plan to use AT-TEs as landing craft to board the Bounty Hunter's ship utilizing their Zero-G capabilities. They were dropped from the lower hanger of General Skywalker's flag ship and used their magnetic feet to clasp to the enemy ship.[27]
AT-TEs were used heavily during the second Geonosian Campaign. After facing greater anti-aircraft fire than first anticipated, Commander Jet told Cody to 'Get the Tanks Down!'. The LAAT/c's dropped the walkers in a circle formation, with LAAT/i's filling the gaps. This defensive circle made their position easier to defend. The Walkers fought off wave after wave of AATs and Geonosians until reinforcements arrived. AT-TE 636 provided cover fire for Waxer and Boil as they rescued GeneralObi-Wan Kenobi from his downed Gunship.[26] Later in the battle, the AT-TEs were used to destroy the ray shield generator protecting Poggle the Lesser's new weapons factory. After this, the walkers were confronted by the new Separatist Super tanks, and proved no match for this new threat.[28]
During the First Battle of Felucia, two AT-TE's were used to fight alongside a Juggernaut that was the command vehicle of Jedi CommanderAhsoka Tano. The vehicles were lost to enemy fire, though General Skywalker managed to rescue his Padawan and most of her men.[29] Later, the droids mounted a second assault on Felucia. AT-TEs provide fire support from afar for the Republic forces assaulting the Droid Camp.[30]
After the end of the Clone Wars, the newly self-declared EmperorPalpatine favored and authorized the use of newer â and more destructive â war vehicles.[14]
Imperial use
During the Galactic Civil War, surviving AT-TEs were still used by the Empire, mainly in campaigns in the Outer Rim Territories.[14] The walkers no longer held a primary status in military campaigns, but were sometimes used for additional fire-support alongside larger assault vehicles, including AT-AT walkers and Juggernaut tanks.[31][32]
Some were deployed onto backwater worlds like Maridun and Jabiim, where they were used only for logistical purposes and not as front-line combat vehicles. Many of those walkers were adapted to fit new mission roles and planetary environments.[15] The walkers were still used for front-line combat on more remote, less technologically advanced worlds like those in the Atoan system.[33]
In addition to active service in the Empire, some AT-TEs also found their way into the storehouses of the Restored Empire.[16]
Other uses
Aside from the Empire, the AT-TE had found itself in the usage of some criminal gangs. One particular instance was a Weequay gang at the Sriluur spaceport who had somehow managed to get a hold of one, and proceeded to use it to extort payments from visiting spacers. This particular model ended up significantly damaged by Han Solo and his first mate Chewbacca, who proceeded to blow off its back legs via a concussion missile. Solo later recounted this event when reviewing the field manual for the Imperial Military, the Imperial Handbook: A Commander's Guide.[6]
Behind the scenes
The AT-TEs are never named on screen during their appearance in Attack of the Clones, but they are named in supplemental materials and video games in which they appear. Unlike its successor, the AT-AT, the AT-TE isn't depicted as being anywhere near as unstoppable. During their first appearance, it was shown they could be destroyed by a single shot from a heavily armed CIS vehicle, though in video games, especially the Battlefront series, they are far more durable. In Star Wars: Battlefront, they serve as mobile spawn points. In the 2002 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns, All Terrain Tactical Enforcers serve as the Galactic Republic assault mech and are constructable at mech factories in single-player and multiplayer.
Envisioned by Concept Design Supervisor Ryan Church as the technological predecessor of the AT-AT walkers seen in The Empire Strikes Back, the AT-TE walker was a late addition in the Episode II post-production mix. It was then the job of Animation Supervisor Rob Coleman's group to animate the CGI AT-TEs. Tom St. Amand, one of the animators, had previously worked on the stop-motion animation of the AT-AT walkers back during 'Empire's' production, and was able to offer his insight into replicating a similar look and feel in CGI. During production, the AT-TE walker was identified as 'clone walker.'
Tactical Enforcers have also been reimagined in LEGO form for the 2005 video game LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and its 2007compilation re-release.

The All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE) was a multipurpose military ground walker used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. They boasted six legs that could be magnetized, six laser cannon turrets located along the body of the walker, and a heavy projectile mass-driver cannon on top.
CharacteristicsEdit
The All Terrain Tactical Enforcer was a low-built vehicle that featured six articulated legs for propulsion. Its body consisted of two armored halves that were connected by a flexible concertina section, which increased the walker's mobility on the field. Because its legs were low to the ground, the walker had a relatively low top speed, but it also enjoyed greater stability. As its name suggests, the AT-TE was suitable for all terrains; not only was it able able to climb sheer surfaces, but it could also survive in the vacuum of realspace. The AT-TE measured 22.02 meters in length and 9.57 meters in height.[2]
The AT-TE's most powerful weapon was a single mass-driver cannon located on the vehicle's dorsal surface, which gave the walker the purpose as a mobile artillery vehicle as well as a Tank. Four smaller ball-turret laser cannons were mounted at the front, and two others at the rear. The hexapod's armor could easily deflect small arms fire. The AT-TE could be pierced by tanksmasher rockets, which could result in the destruction of the vehicle's complex propulsion mechanisms.[2]
The walker's pilot sat in a forward compartment, while a gunner sat exposed atop the walker to operate the mass-driver cannon.[6] The standard version of the AT-TE carried 20 troops,[1] and some variants carried smaller All Terrain Recon Transports in their rear hold.[6] Their crews were filled out by an IM-6 medic droid, who attended to any injured clone troopers.[9]
HistoryEditClone WarsEdit
Built by Rothana Heavy Engineering,[1] the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer became the principal battle tank of the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.[2]
A blast from an AT-TE was Clone CommanderCody's chosen method in executingJedi GeneralObi-Wan Kenobi when he received Order 66, since it allowed him to fire on Kenobi in a surprise attack, as Kenobi was not yet aware of the clones' betrayal. However, the blast only succeeded in knocking Kenobi into water, and he later escaped to safety.[10]
Age of the EmpireEditAll Terrain Tactical Enforcer Walker BootsImprovised homeEdit
Fifteen years after the end of the Clone Wars, Captain Rex, along with Commanders Wolfe and Gregor, were living in a modified AT-TE on Seelos.[11] They, along with the Lothal Rebels, later used the tank to evade Imperial forces, which consisted of three All Terrain Armored Transport walkers. The tank was able to destroy one AT-AT in the sandstorm before Rex ordered a direct assault on the other two while the Rebels escaped. The Mass-driver cannon, unfortunately, was not strong enough to penetrate the AT-AT armor.[12]
The AT-TE was able to sustain multiple shots from both walkers before Wolfe drove it into one of the walkers. The cannon was temporarily knocked out, but Gregor was able to restore power when the rebels returned and hijacked one of the AT-ATs, giving Rex the opening to shoot the last walker in the neck. The AT-TE was destroyed when the AT-AT collapsed on it.[12]
Galactic Civil WarEdit
Several AT-TEs were later modified by Rebel Alliancemechanics in order to be used as an attack vehicle during the Galactic Civil War. A number were modified with thicker armor and more powerful armament, becoming known as Elite AT-TEs.[8]
At least one AT-TE was used in the Imperialdefense of the Kuat Drive Yards.[13]

(Redirected from AT-AT)
All Terrain Walkers are armoured fighting vehicles from the Star Wars universe that traverse the landscape on mechanical legs. They are used by the Old Republic, the Galactic Empire, and the First Order for ground assault, reconnaissance or transport. Throughout the saga walkers have played a pivotal role in the fate of characters and the outcome of battles. Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) is responsible for their animation and design, often using models, stop-motion animation, and relevant matte paintings to depict their presence in the films.
There are a variety of walkers: The Empire Strikes Back introduces the All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT) and All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST). Star Wars: Episode II â Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode III â Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars introduced earlier models of walkers, such as the All-Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE), and the All Terrain Recon Transports (AT-RT). The Star Wars expanded universe features numerous walker variants have been merchandised in popular culture.
All Terrain Armored Transport (AT-AT)[edit]
The All Terrain Armored Transport, or AT-AT walker, is a quadrupedmechanized infantry combat vehicle used by the Imperial ground forces. Standing over 20 metres (66 ft) tall with blast-impervious armour plating, these massive constructs are used as much for psychological effect as they are for tactical advantage.[1]
The AT-AT (pronounced either 'at at', or using only the letters 'A.T. A.T.')[2] was first introduced in The Empire Strikes Back and also appears in Return of the Jedi. The AT-AT also appears in a destroyed form in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Modified forms appear in The Last Jedi. Windows live mail won t open.
Origin and design[edit]
Joe Johnston's original design for the Empire's war machines was a giant, multi-wheeled vehicle; this design later became the 'Juggernaut' in West End Games' roleplaying material, and the design was reworked into the clone turbo tank for Star Wars: Episode III â Revenge of the Sith.[3] Johnston said Lucas wanted the walkers to look like anthropomorphic walking tanks to make them frightening.[4]
For The Empire Strikes Back, however, the final design was a four-legged walker. Inspiration for the AT-AT came from Paraceratherium, an extinct genus of rhinoceros and the largest land mammal in history.[5]George Lucas later dismissed claims that the AT-AT design was inspired by container cranes at the Port of Oakland (across San Francisco Bay from ILM's San Rafael offices), calling it a 'myth'; animator Phil Tippett told the San Francisco Chronicle the same thing.[6]
ILM created models ranging from six to fifty centimetres (2â20 inches) in height.[7] ILM filmed the AT-ATs using stop-motion animation against matte paintings created by Michael Pangrazio because attempts at compositing miniature footage against live-action background footage yielded mediocre results.[7] Additionally, ILM studied elephants to determine the best way to animate the four-legged AT-ATs.[7] Although the stop-motion animation style gave the AT-ATs a jerky, 'staccato-like' effect on film, ILM found this movement acceptable because of the AT-ATs' mechanical nature.[8]
The sound of the AT-AT walking was created by Sound Designer Ben Burtt, by using the sound of an industrial sheet metal stamper.
Depiction[edit]
Attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Dialog in National Public Radio's adaptation of The Empire Strikes Back says that AT-ATs 'look like animals'; the character goes on to describe the vehicles as carrying 'extremely heavy armor and armaments'. The AT-AT, designed to favor 'fear over function', can carry up to five speeder bikes and 40 Imperial stormtroopers.[1] The head/cockpit armament consists of two side-mounted medium blaster cannons and two chin-mounted heavy laser cannons. It is manned by two AT-AT Drivers, which are combat drivers specialized in operating the Imperial Army's AT-AT walkers, wore distinct battle armour, similar in design to that of a modified basic Stormtrooper. The drivers operated the walker's movement and firing controls, and are overseen by a commander who sits behind them in the cockpit.[9]
Manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards, Expanded Universe sources describe the AT-AT as being either 15 metres (49 ft) or 22.5 metres (74 ft) tall.[1][9][10] The AT-AT's rate of stride is not fast, but this fact is mitigated by the immense height of its legs. They can outrun opponents that underestimate AT-AT walking speed, while their neck can pivot quickly enough to bring their heavy weaponry to bear against even fast-moving craft like snowspeeders. Their blasters and laser cannons do not have a high rate of fire, but the shots are powerful enough to destroy most small targets in one to two shots. Their armor is resistant to most standard blaster weapons; however, the 'neck' column of the walker holds no such invulnerability and, if shot, can cause the entire walker to be destroyed.
The AT-AT is the primary assault vehicle during the Battle of Hoth, first depicted in The Empire Strikes Back. In the film, the AT-ATs are responsible for destroying the shield generator protecting the Rebel headquarters, taking out soldiers, artillery batteries, and snowspeeders in the process. Luke Skywalker, realizing that the walkers are all but impervious to artillery and snowspeeder blaster fire, orders his squadron's snowspeeders to entangle their legs with tow cables, a trick he remembered using on Tatooine to rein in hard-to-control farm animals. Wedge Antilles and his gunner Wes Janson successfully bring down an AT-AT using the tow cable, shortly after another snowspeeder scores direct hit on the fallen AT-AT's neck which causes a huge explosion. Skywalker, after being shot down and narrowly escaping his stricken snowspeeder before it is crushed beneath the AT-AT's leg, used his hoist cable to latch upon that AT-AT's underside, with a slash of his Lightsaber cutting away a panel so he can toss a thermal detonator inside, causing a series of internal explosions culminating with the cockpit and the walker toppling over. In the novelization of The Empire Strikes Back, General Veers' AT-AT is destroyed when its cockpit is rammed by a snowspeeder piloted by Derek 'Hobbie' Klivian, however this never made it into the final cut of the film.
An AT-AT makes a brief appearance in Return of the Jedi; one walks up alongside a landing platform on Endor to deliver Luke to Darth Vader. The first appearance of an AT-AT in the Star Wars Rebels TV series occurs in the second-season episodeRelics of the Old Republic, when Agent Kallus unsuccessfully confronts the rebels while on Seelos, with a trio of the four-legged walkers challenging Captain Rex's retired clone cohorts and their own much-modified AT-TE six-legged walker, where the rebels are hiding out. A ruined AT-AT appears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the makeshift home of the scavenger Rey on the planet Jakku.
All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST)[edit]
The All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST) is a two-legged mech walker introduced briefly in The Empire Strikes Back and featured extensively in Return of the Jedi. These vehicles were designed to screen and protect the flanks of slower moving AT-ATs and the larger tanks used by the Empire
Due to their design and movement, they are often dubbed as a 'chicken walker'.[11] The name Scout Walker is also used to refer to an AT-ST. This name was used for the official toy instead of the AT-ST name.
An AT-ST also appears briefly in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, patrolling Jedha City following an attack by Saw Gerrera's forces.
Origin and design[edit]
A single AT-ST makes a brief appearance in The Empire Strikes Back alongside the larger AT-ATs during the Battle of Hoth. The AT-ST was meant to have more screen time; however, one scene depicting a snowspeeder shooting at the AT-ST model was ruined when the set's background shifted.[12]
For Return of the Jedi, ILM made the AT-ST design more detailed.[12] Numerous models were created, including a full-sized AT-ST for on-location shooting.[12] Director Richard Marquand and producer Robert Watts had cameos as AT-ST operators for the scene in which Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and a pair of Ewoks commandeer an AT-ST.[12]
Lee Seiler sued Lucasfilm in the mid-1980s, claiming that the AT-ST infringed on his copyright on what he called a 'Garthian Strider', which he said he created in 1976 or 1977. The case was dismissed with the court noting that not only did Seiler not produce the supposed drawings at trial, but that the copyright came one year after The Empire Strikes Back debuted.[13]
Depiction[edit]
Star Wars guidebooks describe the AT-ST as a 'reconnaissance or defensive vehicle [that] is lightweight and built for speed'.[11] Their agility allows them to defend the larger slower AT-ATs or support other Imperial ground forces.[11][14] Two AT-STs, with their legs folded up, can be carried inside the cargo hold of an AT-AT. AT-STs are 8.6 metres (28 ft) tall (although some sources describe them as 7 metres or 23 feet)[11] and seat a pilot and co-pilot.[14]AT-STs are armed with laser cannons on the 'chin' and sides, feet claws for destroying small defenses, and side-mounted concussion missile launchers.[15]
In The Empire Strikes Back, an AT-ST scouts for and supports the slower AT-ATs during the Battle of Hoth. Video games recreating the Battle of Hoth feature numerous AT-STs which are vulnerable to snowspeeder blasters unlike the larger AT-ATs. During the ground skirmish of the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi, after initially taking heavy casualties from four AT-STs, the protagonists and the local Ewok tribes destroy several AT-STs and commandeer another one; the AT-ST's precariously balanced nature proves highly vulnerable to the Ewoks' primitive booby traps. Their armors are also significantly weaker than those of AT-AT: their own lasers proved sufficient to completely destroy one, and another one was crushed by two large tree trunks launched against it.
In the Expanded Universe, AT-STs are often featured in Imperial attack forces.[15] Some more advanced Imperial walker designs have been influenced by the AT-ST.[16] Video games such as Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Shadows of the Empire (in a much expanded Battle of Hoth) include numerous AT-STs, and these can be destroyed by direct shooting from the player's craft, in contrast to the heavily armored AT-ATs which have to be tripped by tow cables. AT-STs are also player-controllable units in several real-time strategy games.
The so-named 'All Terrain Defense Pod' (AT-DP) depicted in Star Wars Rebels was used by the Empire on Lothal, Ezra Bridger's homeworld, to enforce their will against the planet's inhabitants during the first season of the series. It is stated as being among the fastest-moving 'walkers' of any of the AT-ST variants, and is only lightly armed with a single, forward-aimed energy cannon.[17]
All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE)[edit]
All Terrain Tactical Enforcer Walker Shoes
The All Terrain Tactical Enforcer, or AT-TE walker, is an mechanized infantry combat vehicle used by the Grand Army of the Republic ground forces. Having six grappling legs and a low centre of gravity, this armoured walker could navigate any terrain â even climbing vertical cliffs. It appears in Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, The Clone Wars multimedia campaign, Star Wars Battlefront II and in the early episodes from the second season of Star Wars Rebels.
Origin and design[edit]
Conceived by Ryan Church as a predecessor to the AT-AT, the AT-TE's animation for Attack of the Clones was supervised by Rob Coleman.[18]Tom St. Amand, who worked on the AT-AT scenes in The Empire Strikes Back, provided his experience to create a similar appearance for the AT-TE.[18]
Depiction[edit]![]()
AT-TEs are depicted as assault vehicles that appear at the Battle of Geonosis, as depicted in Attack of the Clones and various Clone Wars media. It has magnetic feet, which allows it to scale steep embankments if they are magnetic, like the mesa on Teth in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The low profile, six legs and overall flexibility made it vulnerable to IEDs and reduced its acceleration and maximum speed, but lowered its center of gravity closer to the surface it was traversing, traverse speed, mobility and stability; moreover, its low speed allows it to walk through energy shields.[19][20] The vehicles are well-armed with laser turrets, a powerful mass driver cannon, and protected by heavy electromagnetic armor.[19][20] AT-TEs are manufactured by Rothana Heavy Engineering, a subdivision of Kuat Drive Yards (who manufacture many of the other walkers).[21][22] AT-TEs have the distinct tactical advantage, common among many of the Old Republic's larger walkers, of being able to be carried into combat by LAAT/C dropships. This allows their swift deployment to the battlefront from distant landing zones and ground bases.[23] In any case, a well-deployed and utilized AT-TE would win in a battle against an AT-AT (as it did on Seelos, in the Star Wars Rebelssecond season episode Relics of the Old Republic)
List of Star Wars walkers[edit]
Many vehicles were created for various Star Wars media and depicted as technological evolutionary predecessors and successors to the walkers featured in the original trilogy.[24]
